Oral History Project Co-ordinator

(20 hours per week @ £9 per hr 18 month contract)

 

We are looking to appoint an Oral History Project Coordinator to collect oral histories from people of Bangladeshi origin living in Sandwell. The aim of the oral histories is to uncover attitudes and experiences of education faced by Bangladeshi people living in Sandwell during the 70’s and 80’s. The project co-ordinator will also be responsible for the planning and development of a website, educational resource pack and a DVD.

 

 

Applicants must fulfil the following criteria:

 

 

  • Working Knowledge of oral history collection and practices.
  • Ability to record and process individual oral history.
  • Experience and knowledge of archiving, cataloguing and transcribing skills
  • Educated to NVQ level 3 or equivalent as a minimum requirement.
  • Experience and knowledge of working with the Bangladeshi Community for at least three years
  • Experience and knowledge of working with design and video editing equipment and software.
  • Ability to recruit, engage, motivate and manage a team of volunteers
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to relate to people of all ages, from a variety of different backgrounds
